Lets talk sustainability!
There is an array of definitions, systems, approaches and much more. One of the most common definitions is this:
"Sustainability refers to the capacity to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs"
It involves responsibly managing resources, ecosystems, and social systems to ensure their long-term viability, thereby promoting the well-being of both current and future generations. Sustainability encompasses a balanced approach that considers economic, environmental, and social factors, aiming to create a harmonious and resilient system that can endure over time without causing irreversible damage to the planet or societal well-being.
Sustainability is a complex topic - SDGs, EEE, ESG, CSR, Scope 1-3, Carbon Footprint, Economy of the Common Good, B-Corp, Corporate Citizenship, Fair Trade...there are numerous concepts and ideas. We will guide you find the ones that are in line with your core business values and work with them.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected global objectives designed to address a wide range of pressing challenges facing the world. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the SDGs aim to guide international efforts towards achieving a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable future for both people and the planet. The United Nations had agendas passed before, most of them aimed to help less developed countires. This is the first time in history, that the goals are universal - meaning they are not only aimed at developing countries, but also at the global north to create a more united effort.
These goals encompass a broad spectrum of issues, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. The SDGs provide a comprehensive framework that encourages governments, businesses, organizations, and every individual to collaborate and take action to tackle these complex challenges. Each goal is accompanied by specific targets and indicators to measure progress, and the ultimate aim is to create a more inclusive, resilient, and harmonious global society by the year 2030.
